International workshop
BioPhotonics 2011
Parma, Italy - June 8-10, 2011
The international workshop BioPhotonics 2011, which was hosted by Parma University in Parma, Italy, on June 8-10, 2011, has been an extraordinary chance to link with experts working in many different science fields, which need to be strongly joined together to develop new technological solutions for disease diagnosis and treatment.
In biophotonics, the aim to provide light-based techniques for medicine and life sciences requires to fully understand the origins and molecular mechanisms beyond the disease to diagnose, prevent or treat. Biology, chemistry, photonics, physics, engineering and many other disciplines are involved, each of them with an essential role. Besides medicine and life science, agricolture, environmental science and many more area of applications can benefit from a deeper knowledge of the interaction properties of biological samples and light.
BioPhotonics 2011 had the honour to host over 100 participants, coming from all over the world to contribute to an outstanding meeting, where high-level scientific talks have been blended with a pleasant social program.
